I have 5740 officejet.
The printer cannot connect continuously to the router.
I connect via the wizzard and my router and password.
He easily finds the connection but always looses it. When I try to print , the pc-screen says "communication problem with network"
The printer itself works fine when I connect through usb.
Any suggestion please ?
Herbert

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Can you try using a TCP/IP port?
Create a TCP IP port
1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
This video resource will show you how to do it:
Create & Use TCP IP port
Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)
Let us know if that works

it worked two days
but now the same problem again
Printer keeps polling for connection .
It finds the connection and after 20 seconds , it looses the connection again.
I think I was very lucky it worked a few days ago ,
I added the port but my computer cannot find it , probably because the printer alwaus looses connection with the network
I start to think there is something wrong with the printer itself. I placed it next to the router and he still looses the connection.

Hi,
Can you check the IP address on the printer? Is it the same as the port?
It may have changed.
Can you try using a static IP?
This resource will show you how to do that:
Creating a Static IP address using EWS
Thanks.
