Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Gestures work fine when I start up the computer from when it was off but when I put my laptop into sleep mode and reactive it, the gesture shortcuts are not working. The three-finger flicks are not working plus the gesture which switches between open applications.

I have updated my laptop but this issue still remains.

Thank you in advance.

I have solved the problem. I followed what this guy did in his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy5sdukBhyo
but instead of installing the Dell touchpad, install this instead: http://www.synaptics.com/resources#drivers

Hope this helps anyone who is having the same issue!

@Mar543

Welcome to HP Forums,

this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand the gestures aren't working after exiting sleep mode,

Don't worry as I have a few steps that should resolve the issue:

Until Synaptics(the touchpad manufacturer) comes with a fix we had to manually restart the synaptic services after resuming from sleep:

  • start the task manager
  • look for "Synaptics touchpad 64-bit enhancements"
  • click on it
  • then click on the "end task" button
  • by now two finger scrolling shouldn't work don't worry
  • go to control panel
  • then hardware and sound then synaptic
  • it might ask you to uninstall driver click NO
  • the Synaptics options window appears
  • wait for 3 or for seconds and all gestures will start working

Let me know how that pans out,

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

This hasn't fixed my issue. Now, none of my gestures are working.

@Mar543

Thank you for the update,
I appreciate your time and efforts,

I understand the gestures aren't working,

It's possible they were disabled after the last steps performed, don't worry, though, as all we need to do is enable them,

To turn all gestures on:

  1. From the Start screen, right-click the Synaptics Pointing Device, or other pointing devices in the Windows system tray.

  2. Select Enable Gestures.

    Figure : Turning gestures off

Let me know how that pans out,

I hope you have a good day ahead,

Thank you for the update,

I appreciate the quick response,

All you have to do is enable the settings and here's how you could do it:

Click on Pointing Device Properties

Select Touchpad and then click on settings.

Select the Gestures Tab on the top

Check the Box for One finger edge swipe,

Select the Two Fingers Tab and check all the boxes in there,

Select the Three Fingers Tab and check all the boxes within it as well

And Click OK and exit to resolve the issue.

Let me know how that goes,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your efforts,

We should be able to enable this as well,

Just follow the steps listed below,

To enable three-finger flick:

Scrolling, pinching, and flicking is enabled at the factory.
Your computer may also support additional

TouchPad gestures that are disabled at the factory.

To disable or reenable TouchPad gestures, or to explore other TouchPad gestures:

1.Double-click the Synaptics icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar, and then

click the Device Settings tab.

2.Select the device, and then click Settings.

3.Select the gesture that you want to disable or re-enable.

4.Click Apply, and then click OK.

Keep me posted,

Thank you for replying,

The best alternate options to this situation is to uninstall the Synaptics completely,

Then, reinstall it from the synaptic directly as they're the manufacturers of this touchpad driver and should have the latest versions available: Click here

Please perform the above steps and let me know how that goes,
