Just got a dv4-2155dx to replace my dv4-1435dx, since I like this notebook. It doesn't come with bluetooth, however, so I was wondering if I can add it myself. I got the part from HP Parts, but just wanted to know if anyone knows if there's even a space on the motherboard for this module, as I'm aware it might not have it.
Thanks!

Hi:
Yes there should be. You need both the module and cable.
See Chapter 3 page 3-8, item #17 of the service manual. There are two cables depending on whether you have UMA (shared system memory) or discrete graphics on your model.
Below is the link to the service manual. Please read chapter 4, preliminary procedures.
Then read chapter 4, page 4-42 and if you have the stomach for it, you will find the procedures to install the bluetooth module.

Me? I would purchase a little USB Bluetooth adapter.

Thanks for the reply. That's good to know. I already have the module and the cable. I'll have to look over the service manual to see if I want to do it.
I hear what you're saying, but I actually need all the USB ports the notebook has and really can't spare any. I want the bluetooth for using my headset with Skype. I do a lot of conference calling/video chat for work.
I dismantled my dv4-1435dx and learned that there was no place on the motherboard for the bluetooth module, so I wanted to check this time. I don't mind doing it as long as it only involves removing the bottom, keyboard and palmrest. It's a pain to have to remove the motherboard to get to the underside.
After looking at the manual in detail, it doesn't look to involved, so I'm going to do it.
Thanks again for your help!

So I contacted HP to get more information on the graphics for this model so I know which cable to use for the installation, and that was a wasted phone call. They couldn't tell me if the dv4-2155dx was UMA graphics or discrete graphics subsystem, which is surprising. The specs say that it has Intel HD, but I don't know if this is considered separate graphics or shared UMA.
Does anyone know for sure?

Hi:
You have the UMA (Shared system memory) graphics.
I guess I should have just let you know that yesterday, and what cable to get, but now you know.
Did you dissect the notebook to confirm you can add these parts?

Thanks again for your help! I ordered it yesterday and it'll be here Friday, so I won't know until then.
I've studied the maintenance guide, however, so I know it's located in a place that won't require a complete tear-apart to get to it, like my last notebook. If I can't, I can't, but I have a feeling I will be able to.
Sometimes I have to wait weeks for a response, if I get one at all, so an extra thanks for taking the time to respond to my problem.

The notebook arrived yesterday, and it doesn't have bluetooth in it. So I had to order the proper parts for it and they'll be here next week.
