Battery Replacement

[ Edited ]

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you to ask about the battery repleacement. I have bought this laptop one year ago (in January 2011). After one year there is a problem with the battery (is does not hold a charge, windows and battery programs and even the HP asisstant show that it has less than a 50% capacity). During the year the operating sytem was reinstalled and later I have upgraded it from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional (drivers downloaded from the HP website) so there is no problem with software errors. Also I have followed instructions on the HP forum: 1. I have charged the battery then I left the laptop in BIOS for recharging, 2. I have charged the battery then I left the laptop in the Windows Safe Mode for recharging. Unfortunately there was no change.

Apart from this I would like to ask about replacement warranty. On the HP website, on my account  in the warranty area I can read:

Wty: HP Support for Initial SetupSupport (Initial Setup Assistance) - Expired

Wty: HP HW Maintenance Offsite SupportSupport (Hardware Problem Diagnosis Offsite Support & Materials) - Active

I would like to ask what does the second one (Active one) mean? Is the replacement service included in this part?

Overall, I would like to ask what can I do now? Is the warranty active and covers the battery replacement? If yes where should I report it? (because when digging into HP website for some time I have not found a correct answer what can I do).

Information about the laptop:

Laptop: HP G62-a40EW

Serial number: {Removed for privacy}

Product number: WQ031EA

Bought in Poland, now located in the United Kingdom (London).

Information on the battery:

- Replace with spare Part # 593553-001

- C61060

CT: 6AZVF01BJYU361

2010/04

Kind regards,

Ariel Adamczyk

Re: Battery Replacement

Since you have purchased your notebook in Jan 2011, the warranty on the notebook has expired. You will need to purchase a new battery for your notebook.
You can go through the following document which will help you understand the battery life better:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00596784&tmp_track_link=ot_recdoc/c00821536/en_...
Although I am an HP Employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

Make it easier for other people to find solutions, by marking my answer “Accept as Solution” if it solves your problem.
