The HP parts store said on one drive was supported but the configuration options showed
several configuration with two disks.
I had hoped I could add a caddy and power/bus connector from the parts store.
I only configured the machine with one drive and want to add a second drive ( from my dead dv7 3085 dx ).
The machine is supposed to arrive June 18 ![]()
Thanks for any insights...

Hi,
I believe that you can add a secondary hard drive to the laptop. Have a look at the service guide for the right caddy part number..

guide for the dv-7000 but the pictures clearly do not match where
the support screws would need to go...
There is a second drive bay in the dvt-7000 but no caddy...

The answer is a qualified yes...
The appropriate kit for the dv7t-7000 is '681976-001'. This kit comes with the
caddy and a long and short bus/power cable. It also has screws to attach
the disk drive to the caddy.
It also contains 2 M2.5xL4 screws which will attach the primary drive caddy to the
computer frame, but there are no screws for attaching the second drive caddy to
the frame.
the recommended screws are M 2.5 x 9L.
I picked up two M 2.5 x 8L screws at ACE hardware that work fine,
