Re: Can I upgrade graphics card of my Laptop?

Hi, Dave:

Below is the link to the service manual for your dv6.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02745432.pdf

Supported Intel motherboards can be found in chapter 3, page 23.

Since your PC has a dual core processor, the best video adapter/memory combo would be this board:

For use only with computer models equipped with a dual core processor, the Intel HD6770 graphics subsystem, and 2048-MB of discrete memory. HP part # 650800-001.

You're looking at almost $600 just for the motherboard.

Re: Can I upgrade graphics card of my Laptop?

Hi, gojmgo:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01295820.pdf

The parts info for system boards can be found in Chapter 3 on pages 23 and 24.

You would need to know what board you need based on what hardware is in your PC.

Also there is an separate audio board.

Re: Can I upgrade graphics card of my Laptop?

Please look at my post above my last one.

I addressed them separately. I posted another link to the dv2xxx service manual for the other forum member who interceded.

Here is the link again, just to make sure.

Re: Can I upgrade graphics card of my Laptop?

Hi:

You are at the top of the mark with the HD6770 GPU.

If you live in the USA, this is where I get my memory online...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007609%20600000414%20600213067&IsNode...

I'd go with Patriot, GSkill, Corsair or Crucial (whicheiver is cheaper and has the best reviews).
