I am having an issue with a dv6-6020ca (AMD Phenom 2 P960) laptop. I am trying to replace the 5400 RPM SATA hdd that came with the laptop with an SSD drive. The problem I am having that the laptop does not boot from the SSD drive. It constantly comes up with the hard disk 3F1 error. I have tried OCZ Vertex 2, Intel 320 Series and X series as well to no avail. Just for the sake of it I took an older Samsung SSD that came with Dell Latitude E6400 laptop as well and that was the ONLY SSD that I could make work with it.
I have updated the BIOS (unfortunately, I cannot change any SATA settings in the BIOS since it is locked down) and every single driver possible on the original hdd drive, hoping that it may update the firmware on the SATA controller, but nothing helped.
Is there a list of "approved" SATA SSD drives that will work with this laptop? Is there a way to "unlock" the BIOS and get into the "Service" mode by any chance?
Thanks in advance.
