Hi there
If someone would help on this it'd be awesome
My laptop's screen is not showing anything, and I blame the gpu. I don't know if the gpu is mobile on the pavilion dv6 2153eo, and I don't know how to replace it if possible. Google have not helped sofar...
I've tried to loosen all screws and doors, but I can't figure how to get the keyboard out of my way...

I like to do these things myself if I can learn how, so if anyone can explain to me how to do this or link a tutorial it'd be appreciated!

You're getting way ahead of your self here. First of all the GPU on the mother board is soldered right on to it and if it's failed, there isn't much you can do except a "Reflow" this is a process where the solder is remelted with a special infrared machine to properly reflow the solder.

 Before we jump to the conclusion that the GPU is gone or the solder has failed, connect up an external monitor. If you see your desk top, then the GPU and MoBo are fine.

 If you have a picture on the external monitor this points to a screen problem or a problem(s) with its related parts like the video cable or the screen itself.

 Upon boot up is the screen completely black or does the HP logo at least come up ?

 Also, you're running an LED screen so your machine is fairly new, how old is it ?

My machine is roughly two years old. It is worth mentioning, that it has had a fan problem the whole time. This might have something to with overheating of the other components, but I dont know

I have tried with two external monitors. Both the external and internal screen is completely black, with no pixels lit.

Just to be sure about the monitors, did you connect them before booting up and while it was on.

 I have seen this happen where the MoBo is healthy and it still won't recognise an external monitor.

 The other thing to try is to boot up with only one stick of RAM in the bottom slot, if no success, try the other stick.

 I am thinking though that if it has been running hot all its life that the solder on the video has failed.

 There are some youtube videos out there on how to reflow the solder yourself, I'll find one of them if you like or you can go to youtube and type in reflow in youtubes search box, here's one here.

 Some use a heat gun while others use a small pocket torch.

 I have even had someone report success by wrapping up the laptop in a bunch of blankets, totally blocking off all the vents. It allows the laptop to get so hot it reflows the solder on the video card.

 After a while it will shut down because the vents are blocked.

 I don't agree with that last solution.

I DID connect the monitors while the pc, was on yes...

So?

First I should try to boot up "with only one stick of RAM in the bottom slot" ?

And then try to reflow the solder myself?

I think I know what these mean, but it sounds complicated

Booting up with one stock of RAM is not complicated.

 Here is a link to HP media Services Library, it will tell you where the access panel is and how to remove the RAM.

 If the RAM procedure does not help then I recommend you get another opinion from a trusted repair shop.

 No one can make a proper diagnosis on a forum especially when it has been suggested that the Mother Board or rather the video card solder has failed.

 Tell the repair guy that you physically tested the RAM and tell him about the possibility of the failed solder.
