Since you have the "Bay Trail" processor your laptop 15-f024wm has a single memory slot so to go from 4 gigs to 8 you are going to have to get a new single 8 gig module.
See page 30 for instructions.
This is the HP Part number of the memory you need:
693374-001
There is an easy access memory door so you can just open it up and replace the old module with the 8 gig. We have received favorable reports fom other users that 8 gigs of DDR3L-1600 memory works fine. This as I said is DDR3L-1600 aka PC3L-12800 and it is low density 8 blocks on the side not 4. The DDR3L means low-voltage 1.35 volt not 1.5 volt.

No all that stuff is in the hard drive. The RAM (random access memory) clears whenever power shuts down. Hard drive is permanent storage like the operating system, programs and files. The RAM holds the stuff you see on the screen (running program data).
