HP G60 445DX Processor upgrade

I have a HP G60 445DX with the AMD Turion X2 dual core processor (2.2ghz RM-75).  I believe the processor uses the S1 socket.  Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows if the processor is actually upgradeable on this system?  I am looking at an AMD Athlon 64 X2 (2.1ghz) processor to put in the laptop.  The main reason I am looking to upgrade is speed.  I play mid to lower end games on my laptop and the system struggles with the graphics at times.  I know the Turion isn't the best dual core processor.  Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Hi,

See a maintenance and service guide: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/CoreRedirect.jsp?redirectReason=DocIndexPDF&prodSer...

You may use this: QL-62 2.0-GHz processor pn: 498472-001

This is the best Athlon X2 processor you can get...

Re: HP G60 445DX Processor upgrade

Is that an HP part number because if it is, that part is showing at just over $800.  I can buy a whole new laptop for that much.  Does the processor have to be purchased from HP?  I hope they don't have that locked out in the BIOS as well.

Yes, this is the HP part number. $800 for a CPU and for an old AMD is a day light robbery. There is a chance to buy some components on ebay but the CPU is not there.
I wouldn't upgrade this kind of laptop. I would sell it and buy a new one. The first generation Intel processor laptops are very cheap and even Sandy Bridge ones go with prices down. You are a player so you may want the latest AMD Vision laptop. It's a competition for Sandy Bridge CPU but they have a better graphics support. It's going to be released soon but shouldn't be much expensive..:smileyhappy:
