I have been getting the 601 Error, referring to my Primary (internal) battery. I had just a couple of quick questions.
(1) Is the error referring to the main, removable battery (the rechargeable one on the bottom of the laptop), or the CMOS battery?
From what I gather, it is referring to the removable battery (despite the deceiving reference to "internal")
(2) Will removing the main battery, and running the laptop using only a power cord throw the 601 Error message? Or does the battery have to be in the laptop to throw the message?
Thank you for your time

Hi,
See some information here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/D
1. This error is about the primary (main) battery, not the small CMOS one..
2. You may remove the primary battery from the laptop and use the laptop as a desktop using only a power cord. The battery doesn't have to be installed in the laptop and the error shouldn't be coming back then..
I would upgrade the BIOS first, it could be a bug and a newer BIOS might fix it..
