Install Second Hard Drive On HP Pavilion DV7-4270us Laptop

Hi,

My laptop has a space for a second hard drive but no connectors. I am using Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and would like to add a second drive in that slot. My main drive is 1TB and I am running out of room. Currently I am using a 1TB external but it is cumbersome when traveling. What must I do to use the second drive?

TIA,

Marty

Hi Marty,

An example of what you need to use the 2nd HDD bay is on the link below.

Hi,

Yes, it'll work fine in your dv7-4264ca or any of the dv7-4000 series.

Best regards,

Yes, you can add a second hard drive to your DV7.  Here is a link to the HP Part Surfer page for your notebook.  You will need to have one of the hard drive hardware kits which is part number 681976-001.

You may also want to take a look at the Maintenance and Service Guide for your notebook.  It contains the specifications of the hard drive and the disassembly instructions for the notebook.

If you have any further questions feel free to ask.  I hope you find this helpful and have a great weekend!
