Is there support for drives larger than 2T

I bought a 3T seagate external USB drive. I can only see 746G. I've read online that lots of people have arious issues with systems being able to see 3T drives regardless of manufacturer. Often times it require BIOS update to resolve it. I see for my laptop, the last update available is form 2009 which I already have. Are there efforts to create a new BIOS update to address the issue of not being able to access drives larger than 2T?

I have HDX 16-1140US

Windows 7 64bit SP1

External harddrive capacity has nothing to do with your computer. Try to check if you can detect the 3tb in another computer. Maybe you just got ripped off.

Re: Is there support for drives larger than 2T

Hi,

What does Disk Mgt see ? Please try this:

Start,

Type diskmgmt.msc (in the Search box) then hit Enter

You should see your 3TB external HDD there, what is it ? Can you see all 3TB ? If YES, you can work from there (ie format, assign letter ...). If NO, please post back.

Regards.
