Hello all,

I've looked all over, including the User Guide and Spec Sheet, but cannot find the max memory for this laptop, nor the type of RAM I'd need to upgrade.  It is currently using 2 x 4GB Samsung 1600MHz for a total of 8.  The product name per HP Support Assistant is HP Envy 15 x360 PC, Product Number G6T85UA#ABA, running W8.1 64 bit OS.

Thanks!

Thanks Much!  It answered my question, although I'm not excited about the answer (non-expandable) but at least I have the facts now.  Thanks again.

Crucial often has satisfactory test results with larger memory modules than HP tech support does. Sometimes, even the HP Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide may recommend larger memory modules than you see HP Tech Support recommending here. However, before upgrading memory, you MUST update to the latest BIOS, Version F.11 Rev. A, 2014-08-05, I think it is. HP makes the BIOS update virtually goof-proof and automatic. For $180 shipped, Crucial has in stock: 16GB kit (8GBx2) part #:CT6149318 Ballistix (gamer-grade) DDR3(L?) PC3-14900 • 10-10-10-30 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1866 • 1.35V (DDR3L ?) • 1024Meg x 64 • upgrade specifically for the HP - Compaq ENVY 15-u011dx x360 system. Crucial claims to have thoroughly tested their modules with the specific HP notebook, and they will refund your money if are not satisfied with their recommended module(s). Crucial makes a disclaimer that it does not recommend modules not recommended by the notebook "manufacturer". But apparently Crucial is referring to "official" recommendations other than the recommendations of the HP support techs here. If that true report gets me banned here, so be it.

Hello, I tried the RAM upgrade from Crucial and it worked. Make sure you update the BIOS. Now my niece has 16MB of RAM in her HP ENVY 15-u011dx x360. Thanks for the tip!!!
