Old printer, new (to me) computer

My HP Deskjet D4160 Printer doesn't seem to be recognized by my Apple iMac G5 Power PC (OSX 10.4.11). I can't find the installation disk for the printer, though it may still turn up. Is there a fix for me short of buying a new printer? Please be very specific with instructions. I am 71 and bright enough but easily snowed by computer terms. Don't worry about talking down to me, it can't happen in re computers, etc. tlady2
