Pavilion dv7-7000 uses what sata type?

[ Edited ]

I was wondering what Sata type the motherboard supports before I make a purchase of a Sata III (6Gb/s). I know Sata III is backwards compatable but if it saves me $30 for Sata II then I'll go for that.

Here is something I found at crucial.  It seem to indicate that the transfer rate is sata3. You may want to investigate a little further.

It seems a little contradictory, on the left side they say it supports sata III, but in the right side it only gives sata II upgrade options, my DV7-7008TX reports it has sata II and not sata III, however the HM77 chipset does support sata III.

I can confirm that after putting an SSD in the DV7 it does have sata III :smileyhappy:
