After I had dozens of bluescreens of death and service under guranty changed motherboard (now my HP is 4440s insead which I bought 4540s) I've installed Windows 7 64 bit and let the HP support assistant to do the job, cause I hope that I won't have bad situations like I've installed drivers on my own.
But there are two thing which are unsolved, or I should say one. In device manager there are two !:
1. Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
2. Unknown Device
So I can get solved this under number 2, hardware ID is ACPI/HPQ6000 and HP 3D DriveGuard will solve it.
What worries me is one under the number one, cause last few times when I downloaded drivers from official HP page it gave me BSOD's and then I've read on Intel page that there are two kinds of drivers, so I'm not going to make a stupid move, will ask you for advice.
God bless you.

When I was installing os on my own, everytime I get BSOD when I install driver for USB 3.0.
Now I've done it step by step, Windows 7-> SP 1-> HP Support assistant and then after that followed your step and again I get BSOD, which will come back sooner or later.
Also why can't I use bluetooth mouse and be on net by WiFi, that action sooner or later gives me BSOD?
Here are the BSOD screenshots:

Now in my device manager under USB Controllers there is one unknown device without "!" and that's weird. I have tried to upload the driver and same thing. Also when I enter the properties I see this:
"Nepoznati uređaji" stands for "Unknown devices"
And where is descritption of the device stand that for the device there are no installed drivers.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with any of those issues.
All I know is that was the correct USB 3.0 driver you need.
I suspect there is still some kind of motherboard (hardware issue) in your notebook, and I would take it back to HP and make sure they fix it right.
