compaq presario cq62-219wm cpu upgrade

[ Edited ]

we have a laptop, compaq presario cq62-219wm. intel celeron 900 @ 2.2 ghz (800mhz). running windows 7-64 bit O/S. is there a cpu that i can upgrade to for this laptop ? this celeron is a single core w/single thread i believe. i would like to upgrade to a duel-core (at least) if possible. how do i find a list of cpu's that i can upgrade to ? the model number is WQ778UA#ABA. the serial number is **************. any help would be appreciated.

Re: compaq presario cq62-219wm cpu upgrade

Hi,

You can see the list of processors on Page 91 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.

I would always double check with HP when you have made your choice to ensure it's compatable.

Re: compaq presario cq62-219wm cpu upgrade

Hi,

Both the Model No. and the Part No. agree it's a CQ82-219wm.  Where are you seeing this other number?

Note:  If you can, edit your first post and remove the Serial No. as this is personal info.

i was prowling through the thing and this (cq62-217cqa) came up as an i.d. number. the cq62-219wm comes from a sticker under the batt. where can i figure out if this is the " 1.0, 1.1, or 1.2 " model, i'm thinking it was on the hp assistant program. now that the thing has updated, i don;t see it.

Re: compaq presario cq62-219wm cpu upgrade

Hi,

That's a good question.  The best suggestion I can think of would be to call HP as I assume they will be able to tell the revision number of the notebook from its Serial No.

If you live in the US, contact HP Here.

If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

Re: compaq presario cq62-219wm cpu upgrade

You can basically put any of the 45nm lithography PENRYN processors in it, the highest and best processor you can upgrade to is the Intel core 2 duo t9500. I have the same laptop and I have the next step down from that which is the t9300 Intel core 2 duo. There is no full list of processors that it will support the lists you will find are incomplete at best even Intel doesn't keep their information up-to-date. Just go to intel.com and look up PENRYN in a search most of those you can use you will have to compare them to make sure.
