Hey guys, I just wanted to see if could upgrade some part on my dv6-1245dx. I want to see if I can upgrade my DVD drive to a BD drive, my HDD to SSD and the Intel GMA 4500MHD to something else.
If there is anyway I can do these upgrades and if there are any manuals for disassembly, please let me know!
Thanks!

Hi, Akeem:
Here is the link to the dv6 service manual.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01758220.pdf
Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade the video adapter as it is an integrated chip soldered to the motherboard and is not upgradable, or servicable.
Yes, you can install a blu-ray drive. See chapter 3, page 32 for the part numbers of the blu-ray drives you can install. One has lightscribe capability and one doesn't.
Your PC is modern enough to take advantage of a SSD, but none are listed as supported in your manual.
I read the BIOS release notes and none show added support for a SSD. So, someone else will have to help you there that may have made this upgrade or you can take your chances. One should work based on your PC's architecture.
To be on the safe side you may want to upgrade your HDD to a 7200 RPM spindle speed for a little better performance if you have a drive with a 5400 spindle speed.

Thanks, figured I couldn't do the video card. The optical drive seems like it would be easy to replace.
Also is there anyway I can upgrade the processor?

Hi:
You can upgrade your processor to any of those listed in Chapter 1, pp 1-2.
I'd be focusing on the first few listed on Page 1 as upgrades to yours, like a T9400 for example.

You're very welcome.
Chapter 4 of the service manual provides detailed instructions for removing and replacing a processor.
Check your BIOS release notes to see if a BIO flash update is needed to upgrade to one of the newer processors (doesn't look like you need to update the BIOS).
