Hi:

What is the exact model of your notebook?  There are dozens of dv9000 series notebooks.

If you don't know, you can try this tool below to help identify your notebook.

If that doesn't work, here is another guide to help you find your product number:

Hi:

Officlally, your notebook can take a maxiumum of 4 GB of memory (2 x 2 GB).

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01182393=

Unofficially, since it has the Intel processor, that would mean it has the Intel 965 chipset, you should be able to install 2 x 4 GB of memory for a total of 8 GB.

Upgrading past the official specifications is a risk that you will have to take on your own.

You need to have a 64 bit operating system for anything more than 4 GB of memory.

Perhaps it should also be said that you need PC2-5300 DDR2 otherwise known as DDR2 667MHz but make sure you go out and buy laptop RAM and not desktop RAM so it's the smaller SODIMM packaging you want and not the DIMM.

You can read up a little about these things prior to buying to save yourself buying the wrong type:

Hi:

If you are running a 64 bit operating system, you can install 2 x 4 GB of PC2-5300 or PC2-6400 memory.

The PC2-6400 memory will run at 667 MHz, however.

Nowadays 2 x 4 GB of the above memory will cost you well over $200, so that probably is not cost effective to put such expensive memory in a rather dated notebook.

If you don't have 4 GB in there now, you might consider installing 2 x 2 GB of the above spec memory.  That will be less expensive.

This is the product specs page for your model.  The 2 x 4 GB spec won't be listed.

I do have the original 4 of RAM. But the 2*4 would be 667Mhz, so how much Mhz run in the 2*2...?

HP Recommended

It would be the same (667 MHz) if it is PC2-5300 or 6400 memory you have in there.
