Hi
Please boot unit to Bios using F10 key once unit is powered on go to Diagnostics check if the Hard Drive is getting detected. If not getting detected reseat the HDD & check if not issue with HDD & Solt of HDD.
If the HDD is getting detected under Bios please run the HDD test check if that passed.
Then under system configaration change the Boot order to CD/DVD to be First.
Insert the CD restart the unit or press Esc Button unit should detect the RCD in drive and give you the recovery option still does not work issue with DVD/HDD.
Let us know how it goes!

thanks, did all that, and still nothing. Even had a tech at staples try different ways. I ordered factor recover disks now. the concesus is that the disks I made when I first got the laptop SOMEHOW are bad. Recovery disks are useless. Thanks for your time.

Hi,
I purchased a new HDD to replace the one i had that was imminently crashing (SMART failur 301 i think). So i purchased the Seagate Momentus XT (ST95005620AS) 500GB 7200RPM 32MB Cache 2.5" Solid State Hybrid Drive.
So I performed a system reset, and while it went through all the DVDs, whenever the laptop restarts it hangs at a black screen. So I rebooted using the recovery discs again and now it gives me the option of doing everything else (ie. pulling files, etc. etc.). Sadly, whenever i restart the computer it comes back saying that there is no bootable disk or drive.
I also tried looking around the BIOS but i couldn't find anywhere it would say it was detected. I ran all the tests and they came back 100%.
Thoughts?
