keyboard issue - HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC 584037-001

Wanted to see if anyone came across this issue. I removed the keyboard during a repair and now only a few keys function? Can't find any issues with hardware under device manager and now i'm looking to replace it...can you please tell me the part number or how to find it?

I would reccomend that you firslt try to reseat the ribbon cable and be careful when you position the keypad. You could have inadvertantly miss alighed the connectors when you put it together.

Re: keyboard issue - HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC 584037-001

Tried reseating the ribbon and bought a new keyboard and installed that as well....still seeing the same issue. The only keys working on the laptop keyboard are: 30=7642'

There is a wifi signla light on the keyboard under f12 and that is ON and while using the usb keyboard, when I hit Caps Lock, I can see the small light on the Caps Lock button on the keyboard go on.

So, they keyboard has power but the only a few number keys and = and ' keys are working??

Anyone have a clue what's causing this issue? would really appreciate any help.

Thanks,

One thing you could try to see if it is a softwaro problem would be to try a linux distro live dvd. All you is pick a distro (linux mint for example) , and download and burn the iso file. Then boot your computer from the optical drive and see if your computer works.
