If your notebook is still within the one year standard warranty, that is a warranty replacement item.
Check your notebook's warranty status.
If not in warranty a replacement power adapter/charger can be bought from online vendors ( Amazon.com and others) at a very reasonable price.

the problem is i don't have any proof of purchase that contains the date of my purchase. and i made purchase on my friends name.

Did you register it in your name when you set up the notebook?
The adapters are not very expensive if you shop wisely online. Just do a search with the power adapter's part number as the search term.

Then perhaps you can ask your friend for a copy of the receipt and a bill of sale that shows transfer of ownership to you. Call HP and ask them what you will need to do.
It ican be difficult when a notebook is purchased in a coutry other than the one it is used in.
