I recently tried to upgrade the processor of my HP dv6700. I upgraded to an Intel T7500 and after reassembling the laptop and trying to power it up, the laptop shuts down after 1 second. The computer turns on, the fan makes a brief noise, and then the machine shuts down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You've got the same problem many people have. Your motherboard melted down.
Your laptop, like many many others, should have been recalled. Google recall & class action and you will see where the same laptops, with a few number changes but same equipment, were recalled and owners given new laptops.

Thanks, MidwestMike. This was helpful. I will have to look into this.
