Re: processor microcode error message

Hi:

When I input the product number, I get too many different possibilities.

Please let us know exactly what model PC you have from the list.

Re: processor microcode error message

Did you install the microcode update?

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12...

You need a floppy drive and floppy disk to do that. No other method can be used to install the microcode update.

If you did, and you still are getting the microcode update, my assumption is you installed a P4 3.0/800/1M Prescott processor, and those are not supported in your PC.

You are better off installing a P4/3.2/800/512KB Northwood processor sSpec SL6WG.

You won't get a microcode error with that if you have the latest microcode installed, and your PC will run cooler as well.

Re: processor microcode error message

you're exactly right. i pulled the processor from the motherboard and the numbers match.

i got the processor in the mail yesterday from an ebay seller. it's not the processor i was supposed to get.

i plugged it in anyway and the result is the 1801 error. i guess it's time to figure out what to do next.

thank you for the help.

have a great day
