I have a dv7-4180us laptop with 2 hard drive bays. I was wondering if I could use a RAID configuration. I have 2 hard drives, that are identical size, speed, and manufacturer.

Hi:

 

Go into your device manager and look for a category named Storage Controllers.

 

If you have such a category, click on that and you will see a RAID controller listed.

 

If you do not have that category listed in the device manager, and only have a category listed of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, then your notebook does not have RAID capability.
