ram upgrades

i  have a presario cq60 210us , i just want to know if i can put  2 different sticks of ram ( a 1gig 6400 and a 2 gig 6400 stick) or if they both need to be the same , as in 2   1 gig 6400 or 2 2 gig 6400 sticks of ram

Hi:

Yes you can do that, but the memory won't run in DDR mode.

You need matching memory in matching sizes and specs to run the memory in DDR mode.

You would probably get better performance with 3 GB of memory, vice 2 x 1 GB of memory running in DDR mode, because more memory is better.

But yes, your PC will work just fine with 3 GB of memory.

Best would be 2 x 2 GB of memory.
