hello, i have an HP Pavilion DV6 3127dx with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M350 @ 2.27Ghz processor.
windows 7 home premium
is it possible to put in a faster processor? i5 or i7?
i only have 4 gigs of ram and understand that i can only upgrade to 8.
maybe i should do that first...but i need some power up in here!![]()
any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.

wait..did i just answer my own question?
is this my manual?
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02657339.pdf
on page 1 "Product Description" it lists a *LOT* of processors..
does this mean i can pick/choose whatever's on that list for a replacement?

alas, i don't understand processors...
mine says it is "2.26 Ghz"...but only i3..
but there are i7's that say "3.2 Ghz."
but...there are two i5's that go up to "3.33 Ghz"
does that mean the i5s' are more "powerful" or "faster"??
i just need some performance these days.
sorry...i think maybe i know what i need but want to be sure.
thanks in advance.

why does the manual list all of those processors?
when i was looking around here for answers, one of the typical answers for other people posing the same question was "look at the manual" and would list the accepted processors.
man..that's sad if i can't upgrade. LOL
thanks for your help.

ohhhhh!!
page 98 .. processor replacement.
i am assuming, until someone with HP by their name tells me differently, that I can upgrade to any processor listed on the page 1, mentioned in a post above.
WHOOO!
225 bucks tho...time to start saving!

Yes. You are right, but I would not recommend you to change CPU on your own.
Second thing which I would not recommend for sure is any i7 processor from this list because this are 1st generation models which will quickly drain the battery.
Remember that if you change the CPU and your notebook is still under warranty then you will loose it.
You need more speed and better performance? Please check the link below first:
How to speed up system boot time and performance.

Mr. Potyrala,
thank you for the answer and additional info.
I think i'll add me some ram to max out to 8 gigs and (maybe) do some of your windows speed up times.
(never knew about not defragging solid state hard drive's so they don't shorten their lives).
are those i5's on that list any good?
thanks again!
