upgrade my pavillion dv6000 cpu

Can I upgrade my pavillion dv6000 celeron mobile T2080 cpu to a dual core 2 duo T7500? I already know that the core2duo T7500 is compatible with the socket pga478 wich is mine, but I'm not sure about real compatibility.

Thanks in advance.

Re: upgrade my pavillion dv6000 cpu

Hi:

What is the exact model number of your dv6000?

Please enter the product number (which is found on the same sticker as the serial number) in the box at the link below and post the real model number. It probably isn't just a plain ol' dv6000.

Re: upgrade my pavillion dv6000 cpu

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your PC model series.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf

Please see chapter 1, page 1-2 for the list of supported processors.

Also, if you are running BIOS version F.25 or newer you can install 2 x 2 GB of PC2-5300 memory for a total of 4 GB.

You can only flash the BIOS when you are running Vista or XP.

Flashing the BIOS if you are running Windows 7 = bricked notebook.

Re: upgrade my pavillion dv6000 cpu

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your PC.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf

Please see chapter 1, page 1-2.

The T5250 is not supported.

I have posted a link to two of the supported processors listed, and your T5250.

http://ark.intel.com/compare/27253,27252,30786

I don't know why it wouldn't work, but if you want to try it, you do it at your own peril, since the manual doesn't list it.

If you do want to experiment, please post back and let us know the results.

Paul
