Hi,

Not many laptops support 3 wireless antennas and wireless cards like the Ultimate-N 6300. I have the card myself on Dv6 but it's the 1st generation of the Core i7 processors and also modding the BIOS was necessary to make the card compatible with the laptop. Intel 6150 and 6230 are compatible with the Dv6-6000 Intel based series laptops but the Ultimate-N 6300 not.

Re: upgrading my wireless adapter from wireless n-1030 to ultimate-n 6300

Hello Again!

i've got a new intel wireless n 1030 and it says it was not compatible during start up, how can i make it compatible?

the story behind why im replacing my network adapter, it all begin when i was downloading an update for my Norton Antivirus and i need to reboot my system to apply the updated virus definition and so on and so forth. but when i started windows my intel Wifi says network adapter disabled and there is no other way i can enabled it because it was not present on device driver and when i open my My intel Wifi all other text option were greyed out (means you cannot click or select any of the other options). that is why i decided to buy a new network adapter but when it was replaced my laptop says it was not compatible. can anyone please advice regarding this matter?

Hi,

Are you sure that you have picked the right adapter? I mean that the adapter has the right part number for the laptop..

Has the adapter the right part number like on the original one? The adapter must have the part number listed in the service manual as compatible..

Probably not. The part number is important because the adapter with a different part number but the same product is intended for a different country. The US use different telecomunication standards than Europe so this is why you have to use a different adapter (part number) than in Europe even if that is the same kind of wireless card like the Centrino N-1030.

Go to the HP software and driver website for your laptop and have a look for a service manual i the "Manuals" section..

Re: upgrading my wireless adapter from wireless n-1030 to ultimate-n 6300

But my Laptop was made for Australia and i ordered my adpater here in Australia also, so what would be the issue in terms of part number?

What do you think happend on my old Adapter? what was the cause of sudden death (so to speak) of the adapter?

Ok, but the adapter might not be an HP compatible one, it means that you can use it on a laptop w/o the whitelist..

edit: According to a manual for a dv6-6000 series laptops there is not an Intel 1030N but an Intel Wireless-N 1000 part number: 593530-001 or at least this one is the compatible one.

Do you have bluetooth on the laptop? There is an Intel 6230 2x2 compatible adapter available for the laptop (combo wifi/bth)..
