Changing the region on a C3180 printer

Hello!

I just moved to France with my beloved C3180 printer and need to change the region on it for it to take French HP printer cartridges... but HP support on the phone tells me because my printer is 6 years old, it's obselete and they won't give me the region codes to input.

I can't believe it! It's a great printer, which I use a LOT (as journo) and am very happy with and don't want to have to buy a new one (which obviously will not be HP).... I've already changed the region once from HK to Japan (Japanese phone support was lovely and very helpful). Can anyone give me the codes from Japan to Europe????

Many thanks!!!!

Re: Changing the region on a C3180 printer

Hi oranginasanguin,

They are incorect. It doesn't matter how old the printer is the warranty goes off the cartridges and not the printer. They are requuired to help you change the region on the printer. Call customer care again at 0969 320 435 to get the printer changed to the correct region. If you still have an issue with them telling you it is out of warranty let me know right away and i will get it taken care of.

Re: Changing the region on a C3180 printer

Thanks! I called that very number today but the lady told me since the printer is six years old they won't help, because they can only help until it is five years old, after that it is considered "obsolete".. I begged her but she wouldn't hear of it.

Re: Changing the region on a C3180 printer

Hi oranginasanguin,

The printer is not obsolete as you can still purchase the ink cartridges for the printer, and the ink cartridges have their own warranty dates. The reset region falls under the cartridge warranty and not the printer. Try to contact them one more time and explain that I indicate they are incorrect, and they are required to assist you with getting the region reset on the printer. Get the name of the Agent if they continue to tell you it can't be done. Let me know right away.

Re: Changing the region on a C3180 printer

Thanks again for your help! I forgot to ask for a name, but the lady who told me my printer was obsolete and couldn't be dezoned asked their boss for confirmation and told me it was office policy and there was absolutely no way they would make an exception to the 5 year rule. The offices are closed now so I'll call them back tomorrow!

Re: Changing the region on a C3180 printer

Just called them again! Arggh! The lady checked with her superior, fed me the "your printer is obsolete, we cannot help you" line and refused to give me her name or her superiors stating that this was none of my business. So frustrating!!!!!

[ Edited ]

Update post recieved from oranginasanguin

I called them today, and I don't know what you said to them but I got transfered to technical support, where a man sent me to buy new French cartridges and take out my Japanese ones and then when I called back to say I had them, another man told me to put them in, and then when I did he put me on hold and then came back and told me he would send me a new C1380 printer next week!!!

It was a bit bizarre... but anyway, thankyou very much for your help, I couldn't have resolved the situation without your help in escalating this...

While I was doing this I realized all the PC's in the house were HP, and it reminded me that I chose this brand because it's one I trust for its durability and reliability.

Many thanks,

Best regards,

oranginasanguin
