D7160 yellow ink cartridge

Hello,

The yellow ink cartridge of my D7160 was empty. I inserted a new one, which was recognized by the printer as 'original HP' and realigned. After that the ink level on the display remained zero and the computer asked for a new cartridge. So I did. Result: still zero ink level. Now I don't know what to do any more.

Can anyone help?

So it's reporting the yellow is empty, but the yellow is still printing ok? Have you tried resetting the printer?

Hi Clara,

No, the yellow is not printing anymore. The printer tells me I have to install a new one very soon, otherwise printing will not be possible anymore (I can turn to 'black only' until now).

As I wrote, I installed two new yellow cartridges, but with every new one the printer at first indicates 'original HP cartridge installed' and after that it indicates that it is empty.

Also I did reset the printer, but that did not help either.

Do you have other possible solutions?

Evert,

I had the same problem and couldn't find the proper solution on the HP site.

I cleaned the contacts of the new cartridge and the contacts inside the printer with a clean clothe and it helped.

Hope it will work with yoy as well.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I can't try out the solution because in the meantime I bought a new printer and threw away the old one.

I've installed a brand new yellow cartridge and it is not reconigized so all the colors are distorted.

So are you seeing a particular error message for the cartridge?
