Error message printer offline

I have a Deskjet D1470 printer operating on Vista Basic, using HP 21 & 22 cartridges, which are both new, which has served me very well for a number of years, my problem is that I cannot get it to print.  I am getting a green blinking light indicating an error, and an error message telling me printer is offline.

 

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer software no joy.  I have updated windows no joy, I have downloaded the diagnostic programme and have run it and according to that all is working fine, but still no joy.

 

On the ink levels screen it is only registering the colour cartridge, the black cartridge is just not there, I cannot align the cartridge's

as it is telling me with only one carrtidge it's not necessary.  I am totally baffled and I don't know what else to try, has anyone got any suggestions?  Does it need servicing I don't know how to find out if it does?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated
