I just tried the hot water and dried all the components and I STILL have NO way to print anything.  All text is invisible.

H-E-L-P! This has been a great printer up to now.

Seriously in need of printing ASAP.

I have a HP officejet 6000 wireless that was working perfectly fine on Saturday morning.  We installed Windows 7 Saturday afternoon (was Windows XP) and now it won't print anything black.  I've cleaned the printheads and still nothing.  Even replaced all of  the toner cartridges.  When we reinstalled the drivers we had some black print on the test page but it was very spuratic and not readable.

I am having the same problem with my black. it seems there are alot of printers with this problem. I have only had mine for about 3 months. maybe we need a recall!

Was the printer moved to a new computer?  If so was it unplugged without first shutting down the printer and waiting for the printheads to properly park?  In this case the printheads could have dried out, running a few (up to 3) cleaning cycles from the front panel may resolve the issue.

For this model you could remove the ink cartridges and soak the printhead as described in my post above.

Printer was not moved at all.  only changed from Windows XP to Windows 7.  Just soaked print head anyway to rule out being a problem.  Prints just like it did.  Black anything will not print.  Litterly was just hours from using it with absolutely no problems to this.  Thought it might be a driver problem so my IT guy re-downloaded everything.

Try making a copy.  Does this print black properly?  If so then the problem would be with the driver, if not the issue is with the printer and the computer is not the issue.

It's just a printer, I think.  Not a copier.

Oops, I was thinking of a different model.  You can print an internal diagnostic page as shown in Solution 6 here.  Does black print properly on that page?

I am having a similar problem with yellow ink. I put in a new yellow cartridge and get a printer message saying that yellow is empty and needs to be replaced. So I thought it was a defective cartridge and  I bought another HP cartridge and still the same message. I went to the HP website and tried the suggestions for a false empty cartridge message (unplug cables, turn off computer, etc.) It didn't work. I also changed the magenta cartridge just to test the printer, and that one registered as 100% full. The problem is only with yellow. Now the printer won't print at all because it thinks the yellow is empty. I have a C5180 all in one.
