WOW!  I never would have thought the printhead could be so gunked up!  THis has saved me from weeks of frustrating, purple prints!  Thank you!

Maybe my celebration was in haste... Having followed the instructions, things turned out great.  However, my maps (I make maps) would begin printing normal and about 2/3 through it would start breaking up with horizontal lines of orange.  Now prints all orange.  All of the cartridges are new, might need new printhead?  Naturally, out of warranty - expired end of July!

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system?

My apologies:

Problem: printer was printing purple streaks on my maps (imagine an ortho map with lines of purple throughout).  I followed post about cleaning the printhead and it worked, for a day.  Began getting orange streaks on my maps.  Replaced the ink cartridges, didn't help.

Seeking assistance before I purchase printhead.

Printer: HP Officejet 7000 Wide Format E809, out of warranty as of July

OS: WIndows 7

Connection: USB

Error messages: no messages or blinking lights/icons

Hi EMick23, so you've already tried the suggestion from Bob?......

OK, for the Officejet 6500 I would try the following:  get a pan and put 1/2" of very hot (not boiling) water in the bottom.  Next remove all the ink cartridges, then remove the printhead assembly.  Gently put the printhead nozzles down in the water and let it soak for five minutes [not five hours, not overnight....].  Remove the printhead from the water and gently dry the electrical contacts.  Put the printhead back in the printer and then reinstall the ink cartridges.  Instructions for removing the printhead can be found in Step 2, items 1-5 of this link. After reinstalling the printhead and the cartrdiges you may need to run up to three cleaning cycles from the front panel or toolbox to restore proper operation.

Note:  the above applies to printers with individual ink cartridges and seperate removable printheads.  Example printers include the following:

This printhead soak method DOES NOT apply to printers that have fixed, non-removable printheads such as the following:

Hi'

I got a new print head and it still does not print black. The print head did not solve the problem.

I suspect there is a bad solder joint that is breaking and circuit contact that drives the printing.

Seems a large number of people are having trouble with these printers. That usually indicates a weak spot in manufacturing of the product.

I re-soaked the printhead assembly, making sure the colored heads were covered with water, as well.  Appears to have worked.

I have asked you before with no response:

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? How is the printer connected - USB, wired LAN, Wireless LAN, bluetooth? Are there any error messages on the printer or computer screen?

It is very unlikely to be a bad solder joint....

Bob, same problem.   I fixed it using your remedy about 3 months ago but now that won't even work.  Print head dead?  Can't replace, apparently.  Hate to put stuff in a landfill that seems like it should be able to be repaired.

hello everyone

i have a problem with my officejet 6500 all-in-one E709a series.

my problem: i want to print my picture. when i print in "general everyday printing" mode with "plain paper" and quality "best", my print is very good. the color and the contrast is natural and other thing is good except dpi and quality.(because i select plain paper but in fact my paper is "premium plus photo paper") but when i print with "premium plus photo paper" and "maximum dpi", the quality and the dpi is very good but the color isn't good. the black color become green. i don't know why. i can't fix it with any guide, diagnostic, or alignment or clean printhead or any profile change or driver update.

os: windows 7 ultimate x64

conection: usb conected

no error message
please help me how can i fix it.
thanks a lot
