First off, not the first time I've had an issue with this printer and certainly not the first time I've had a problem with HP's pathetic phone support. In fact, I bought the extended warranty on this printer just because it's been one of the flakiest {Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion} I've ever had the misfortune to purchase. But I bought it and it really does shine at times.
Anywho...
- HP Photosmart Pro B9180
- Windows7 Home Premium 64-bit
- No Errors Reported
- Changes Made: Inserted New Ink Cartridge.
- EDIT** I now have a ticket # HP Ticket Number: #8054995447
I recently purchased a cartridge of magenta for my printer. After installing it now my printer won't print magenta or yellow. So i figure its probably a head problem since they're on the same head. Run the test (ALL the tests), everything reports back just fine, manually clean the heads and the NEDD just to be sure. Everything checks out fine. So, at this point I have to call support. An hour and forty two grueling minutes later they tell me they are going to have to call me back. Seriously, they actually said they'd have to call back after almost two freakin' hours on the phone.
After about an hour the support guy asks me if I'm having any problems with the scanner on it!! I was like, "do you even know **bleep** this thing is??" About a half hour later he's like, "I need to get the lot number off the printer head carriage before I can escalate this two the next level of support." Then he basically has me gut the entire printer and tells me the carriage should just pop out. Well, I'm no rocket surgeon but I know when I see screws in something it doens't just "pop out".
Regardless, he called back about an hour later and I'm acutally on the phone with him now. At present I've been on the line for 20 minutes and the support person has not said a word in at least ten minutes. He still doesn't know how or where to get the lot number and I'm not exactly sure why he called.
If anyone knows what this problem might be, or where to find the lot number, or how I get a replacement printer or anything constructive it would be most appreciated.
For those of you calling BS on the phone time see below...

here's a little bump for this. For those of you who care or have had a similar situation with HP phone support I've been PM'd several times about this post with promises to correct the problem. All of which turned out to be flat out lies or poorly veiled excuses as to why no contact had been made.
{content removed} I can't wait to hear and share with others about their experiences.

Let's see if I can make a post that doesn't get censored or deleted...
Ok, so finally, after more than 3 weeks I get a phone call from support. It was afterhours on Friday night but I did get a call. Since that wasn't too convenient for me I scheduled a time for them to "call back". Silly me, I thought call back meant they call back and talk about and resolve the problem. As it turns out all that meant was they were going to call and hang-up after I picked up the phone.
I called back within 5 seconds and now am in the "que" again somewhere, I think whoever it was in the call center scheduled the return call at approximately the time I'll be sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner. Can't wait to see how this plays out.
M.
