My HP Envy 4500 e all-in-one printer went nuts during a photo print and blotched all over the paper. I tried replacing the cartridge, (genuine HP 301) but the priner will not accept that it has been changed. It just puts up the message that the colour cartridge needs replaced. I cannot do anything with the printer buttons. Can anyone help me?

Hi Jockneedshelp, and welcome to the HP Forums!

I see you are running into cartridge issues.  I would like to help.

I would recommend removing the ink cartridges from the printer, and performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.

I would then suggest following the steps laid out in this document on A 'Cartridge Missing' or 'Incompatible Ink Cartridges' Error Message Displays on the Control Panel.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

Thanks for the advice; unfortunately it didn't work. My printer still displays the same message. I have also bought some new HP cartridges, but they didn't do any good either.

😞  @ missing my great printer.

Hi mikes_girl905,

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.

Hi, I was wondering if you ever got your printer fixes? Mine is doing the same thing & it's extremely irritating. I can't print anything for my classes.
