My Officejet 6500 E709a series printer does not work. Message indicated: Ink system failure, turn printer off and on. But still does not help. How to fix that?

Hello 002,
Please perform the below step.
Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product.
NOTE: The USB cable connects to the port on the rear of the product. The port is labeled with the USB icon ( ). If your printer has a network or wireless connection, ignore this step.Remove the cartridges from the product.
Wait until a message to insert the cartridges displays. If you do not see a message within a few minutes, skip to the next step.
Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
Wait 60 seconds.
Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button ( ).
Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.
If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the product.
Try printing again.
Regards,
Jabzi

Many thanks to you, I tried following all your steps, but unfortunately a new message appeared: "The printhead appeared missing or damaged." I don't know where the printhead is as I did not do anything other than removing all the cartridges. I need help again please

Much appreciation to Jabzi for being so helpful.
I did call the number you provided and talked with someone from the Philippines Island. The person was extremely nice but hard to understand. Anyway it was the printhead problem. I could replace it with no guarentee that it will work or further break down of other parts or I can get a discount by buying a factory installed one which is a later model and guarentee good for two years with replacement. (My present one is only 2 years and 3 months old.) The cost is $115.18, I figure this is a good deal (hope so) and will get it with free shipping.
Many thanks for allowing me to share my frustration and get some help from you. 002

Hi,
I have the same error message but I am connected wirelessly and trying the method above (skipping the removal of the usb cord of course) did not work for me. Any other suggestions?

That was a great help, I did call the number you suggested. HP replaced mine with a 710 factory installed one with phone support service. After I installed it, it works fine but will not print anything from my PC. Will call them soon for support. Many thanks for your advise.
