Hi, I have the exact problem encountered by the other guy. My printer is about one year old and not heavily used. About two weeks ago, the Cyan cartridge was shown depleted while the others were still 50%. Without thinking, I bought an 940XL to replace. After no more than 20 color prints, the cyan is again shown depleted.
I don't think we are the only two having this problem. You must have seen this before. What is this problem? Can this be fixed without sending it to HP?
Thanks

Thanks, Ciara

I believe there are many consumers out there with this same problem. I also have the problem with the cyan cartridge and only got less than 10 pages out of the last one before it reported as empty.
You can see other threads that go into more detail about the problem and how prevalent it is:
Problem with HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: cleans printheads every time it's turned on - it has close to 20,000 views.
I'm an IT professional and make purchasing decisions for my company. I used to love HP printers and religiously recommended them for individual and network use but reliability and repairability have just gone way downhill in the past few years. I will no longer recommend them for work and don't plan on buying any more HP printers for home use.
I'll get a repair estimate on this one because my wife really likes the unit but I doubt I'll be willing to pay for a fix when HP hasn't fessed up to what I think is a major design flaw.
