Printer refuses to print and gives following message in "printer Ready" window: "The ink system has failed and can no longer print. Refer to printer documentation. Turn printer Off then On." If printer is turned off then back on printing can commence. Diagnostics state that "ink system has failed" and "Print head has failed" yet printer will print if turned off then back on. Then if the printer sits idle for a short time the "turn off then turn on" error message returns. This started when non HP ink cartridges were used. Genuine HP cartridges were substituted but problem persisted. THIS A BIG PAIN TURNING OFF THE COMPUTER AND THEN TURNING BACK ON TO PRINT!! Any one have an answer other than a new printer?

I am including a link that shows how to clean the printhead and do a hard reset for this printer. The link to the document that I am including has a different error message listed in the title. But the 2 steps it has on this document are a complete walk through on cleaning the printhead for a Photosmart C6300 series printer and how to perform a reset on this machine. Here is that link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam
