I have a 5510 and last week the black stopped working , replace the cartridge but only the colour onres are working. Contacted HP support in the UK after trawling the website for contsact numbers only got 2 weeks left on the warranty

Hi, did you try running a printhead clean and checking the cartridge is vented properly?

Hi goody2, as you've tried the troubleshooting I would suggest you contact HP phone support as you may require a replacement.
Can you please let me know how you get on?

I contacted HP va email in the UK on Tuesday then Wednesday and i still have not received a reply from them
When I tried to report a fault yesterday I was informed that the warranty has expired
I received an email earlier on stating that the warranty had been updated, but then to wait a while for other departments to receive the updated warranty status!
Also they now state I shouldring HP
Not very impressed wit hthe haphazard Customer services!

Goody ... I just went through the same problem. HP knows this is an issue. God help us all if they don't figure out how to fix it.
Contact them via phone ... if you get someone in the Phillipines, hang up and try again until you get an English as first language-speaking individual.
As long as you're still in warranty, they will replace it. They'll probably talk you into taking a "reconditioned" one ... I said okay, but in my case when it got here, it was brand new.
Hang in there.
If you're out of warranty, for heaven's sakes, don't buy another HP until we know for certain they've solved this ridiculous problem!!!!

LoisBryan..I received a replacement printer this morning from HP . Its a HP 5514.
It took me an hour to get it going after half an hour on the phone to HP technical..
What a load of tripe HP are!!
I took the other 5510 apart cleaned the print head with a damp cloth but it still does not work
I might try the warm water method next
If it works I post back

I just encountered the same no print with black cartridge issue. Also performed the recommended head cleaning etc but failed for my situation other than in diagnostic mode, oddly enough. Last resort I tried pushing down on this "carriage latch" to secure and i printed 2 pages in "draft" mode successfully!! Maybe it was a combination of everything....Let's see what happens tomorrow.
