Hi,
I have a HP Deskjet 3050A All-in-One J611 Series Printer. I want to print in b/w and it keeps coming out in color. I went to Preferences>Layout>Advanced.
Under Printer Features I went to Print in Grayscale. I used the dropdown box & selected Black Ink Only>OK>OK>Apply>Print & I'm still getting color on some documents.
Any thoughts? I want b/w to be my default setting.
Thanks.

How about the Print All Text in Black option? Was that already enabled? You can also a bit of a test on the printer itself by copying a b&w document.
Let me know how it goes...
Cheers!

Not sure where the 'Print All Text in Black option' is found?
There's no problem in copying docs. They'll copy in b/w. It's the printing...

Print All Text in Black is also found on Printing Preferences > Advanced > Printer Features, it's the last option. Check if it's disable or enable. You can check this from Devices and Printers.
May I also verify where you're printing from? Is it occuring in all programs you've tried (i.e. MS Word, Excel, notepad etc.)
Cheers!

Do you have to select that for every document you print? This is great information. After I put in my last color cartridge (HP Deskjet 460) I chose (under the color tab) Grayscale, then Black/gray photo cartridge only for almost every document I printed & the color is out again. Hopefully I'll be able to keep printing this way even if the color is completely empty!

Once you've set that setting on your printer properties, it should retain it, unless the program you're trying to print from will have a different setting of its own. Glad to hear this also worked for you! I use this setting all the time with my old Deskjet printer!
Cheers!

Mine is slightly different.
When you get to the Advanced Tab you then have this choice: Printer Features>Print in Grayscale. I selected (from the drop down) Black Ink Only. So far it seems to be holding.
Thanks.
