I am in search of the hard reset code as well. I have tried all other options. The printer is asking for setup cartridges that came with the printer even though I have been using it for a while now. I know that there is a sequence of the home, back, question mark, and x buttons that need to be pushed in a certain order to access the system configuration screen. Could someone send me the sequence please.

The reset procedures are generally not published by HP because they can cause problems.  Applying the reset sequences may return the printer to its factory settings, where it will require setup cartridges.  I think at this point you will need to contact HP support.  If you are in the US call 1-800-HPINVENt, elsewhere see the contact information here.

Hi gtone69,

I see you are unable to print black from your Photosmart 5510, I'd like to help. I appreciate the efforts you have made so far, but please ensure you have completed all of the steps in the following document; Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages.

Although I hope this resolves the issue, it might not. If the issue persists, please post back with your warranty status. Use the following link to check your warranty.

If your printer is still in warranty, please call HP and explain the issue you are experiencing. The number to call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for Canada and US, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.

If your printer is out of warranty, let me know and I will do my best to help. Thanks. I look forward to hearing from you.

Please also include your country/region in your next post. Thanks.

Best regards

Hi mikews,

I would be happy to help you with your Photosmart 5510. Before I can offer you any such instructions, what is the problem you are experiencing? Please describe the symptoms of the issue.

After replacing all inks only black inc doesn't work. If I try print black page I get only 5-10% coverage (like very light grey) but on whole page without any interruptions. Normal black text doesn't print at all. Others colours are good. I've tried everything including build in cleaning and your suggestion few posts earlier. Nothing works so I thing to try hard reset now.
