I have printhead and alignment issues with our officejetpro8500 910a.

We noticed the cyan ink was not printing at all. The product went out of warranty about five weeks before we noticed a problem. We have replaced all of the ink cartriges with new hp ink. We tried printhead cleaning multiple times up to the third level cleaning when printhead cleaning failed. We have tried to align the printheads with no success. We have been dealing with this for over a month now. We have only printed 440 pages at the time of our first self test diagnostics page. Our printhead shows it is under warranty until April 4,2012. We have consulted a repair facility. We have exausted all other options up to printhead replacement. We changed to print in black only. Now it wants to print a test page everytime we try to print something. The ink we bought at costco for this printer was a third of the price of a new 8600 model. Please help before my wife beats me with this printer!

The only options you have at this point are to replace the printhead or replace the computer.  Sorry.

Hello Shane, thanks for he response. The warranty date on the cyan/magenta printhead shows April 2,2013. I sent an amendment to the message as an oops. For reference, it is part #hp940(c4901a).Serial #6373108. If you can verify this part is under warranty, how can I get a replacement printhead? Thank you in advance for your time. Kevin M.

If the printhead says it expires April 3, 2013, then that the warranty date.  You should be able to get a replacement printhead by contacting HP tech support, and good news, it should be free, since the part is under warranty.  You can reach tech support at 1-800-474-6836 in the US and Canada, international users click here.  Let me know what happens.

Thanks again, Shane. It has taken us two months and several hours on the phone with a HP technician. We have a replacement printer, new ink cartridges and today we installed the new printheads HP sent us. Yes, after all of this, it was a faulty printhead. Everything was free. We are sending back the original parts tomorrow. I am not sure why HP sent a new printer before trying new printheads. I am just happy to have our printer working again. I was informed the original printer would be melted down and recycled. It is a shame HP can not donate the original printer to a school or library. It has only printed about 500 pages and just needs new printheads. The other funny part is this: the instructions with the replacement parts say to send everything back e.g. cartridges and original printheads. However, several of the techs, including the last one to help us said to just send the printer not anything else. Again, you were right all along. Problem solved. Thanks again.
