I have an HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One printer, model C410a.  I am getting the subject message posted on the printer's display.  I've tried shut-down and restart procedure to no avail.  Then I found a cite that details how the print head can be removed and cleaned.  The print head assmebly was covered in ink residue.  I attempted to clean all electrical contact points and ink residue but this did not solve problem.  Please advise what needs to be done.  Thanx!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you have tried it all Rick, I would try cleaning the printhead again and just do the basic reset on the printer and hope for the best.  good luck!

Follow up to subject problem as you suggest resulted in additional cleaning of the printhead.  A new message now appears "Incompatible Printhead".  What has happened?

Sounds like the printhead has failed. If the printer is still in warranty then call Support. If not, then one option is to purchase a new Printhead at the HP Part Store (part no. is CN642A). More details in the link below....

My printer is out of warranty, however can you give me additional info on what could have caused the Printhead to fail?  I immersed the Printhead in Isoprophl Alcohol and removed ink residue that seemed to "clogg" the device.  Getting a new Printhead may solve this problem but does not satisfy my curiosity.  Thanx............
