Ink cartridge stuck.

HP F-4480, was replacing empty ink cartidge black 60 with black 60 XL because I wanted it to last longer.  When installing the 60 XL, the ink became stuck about 3/4 in.  I cannot push it further in or remove it.

Re: Ink cartridge stuck.

Here's a video on replacing cartridges in your printer: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01671728&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=374...

 - note how the cartridge is installed, and how to release cartridges for removal.

I don't have any good tricks for getting a jammed cartridge out - I would be as careful as possible pulling it out. When you do get it out, follow the steps in the video to install it correctly. Good luck!

Re: Ink cartridge stuck.

This is an HP cartridge and it was put in the correct manner. I just stopped about 3/4 in. I pushed a little harder and then it was stuck.

Re: Ink cartridge stuck.

I got some needle nose pliers and wiggled it up and down, then side to side and repeated.  It finally came loose.  Next I installed Black 60 instead of Black 60 XL.  It went in but not real smoothly.  The test page printed fine.  So is the 60XL different than the 60?  I have gone through 20+ 60 cartridges and this is the first XL I have tried.

Re: Ink cartridge stuck.

There should be no difference between the 60 and 60XL in terms of fit. Now that you have the 60XL out, can you compare it to the 60? Do you see any broken plastic, or any obvious differences in the body?

The 60XL cartridges are compatible with your printer. If you bought a cartridge that was damaged in some way and can't be installed, you should be able to get it replaced under warranty, as long as the Warranty Ends date printed on the cartridge has not passed. Here is HP's ink warranty statement, which shows how to find the date on the cartridge: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00206040

Re: Ink cartridge stuck.

I'm having the same problem. In fact, I've occasionally had problems snapping the cratridges into place in the past but this is the only time I haven't been able to move it at all. I'm about to try the pliers solution.
