Re: Ink level showing low on refill of ink

I just replaced my yellow ink cartridge with a new one on my Photosmart C6180 and it does not recognize the new one.  There is ink in the cartridge because I can hear it when shaken.  I get a criptic message telling me the health of my printer is in jeapordy.  Is this just a cartridge problem or something more? I am waiting for a new cartridge from HP. I must admit do feel cheated considering the cost of these things!

Re: Ink level showing low on refill of ink

I am having a similar problem. I have an HP Photosmart 7640 and recently replaced an empty black cartridge with an HP cartridge. I am still getting messages saying my ink level is low. I don't have a large print volume, so I am wondering if anyone out there might know how to troubleshoot this kind of problem.

Thanks...

Re: Ink level showing low on refill of ink

Still haven't gotten the 02 Yellow I purchased from HP, but went to the store to get a new one not close to the expiration date. This one should be good till 4/2013 and also from Malaysia. Yes - this one doesn't work either.  What gives?  The cartridges are under warranty. How is that supposed to work???

Hi JConger, when you say it's not recognised, are you seeing a particular error message? Have you tried resetting the printer and cleaning the cartridge contacts? Details here

Hp Officejet j6480 All-in-One - Windows 7 - When I take my cartridge to Office Max for refill and put in printer, it reads as low/empty on the icon on the printer. Is it really low or did Office Max forget to put ink in and charge me as filled?

I have ran a alignment test and all is well on that end.

Hi Jim, so it's reading as low or empty but it's still letting you print? And the print quality is ok? Are you able to check the estimated ink levels?, or will Solution Center not work for you?

Solution two: Check estimated ink levels
Follow these steps to check the estimated ink levels using HP Toolbox.
  1. Make sure the product is on and connected to the computer.
  2. Open HP Solution Center .

  3. Windows XP: On the Windows taskbar, click Start , click All Programs , point to HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
  4. Windows Vista: On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon ( ), click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
  5. Windows 2000: On the Windows taskbar, click Start , click Programs , point to HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
  6. Click Settings .
  7. Point to Print Settings , and then click Printer Toolbox . Printer Toolbox opens.
  8. Check the ink levels displayed on the Estimated Ink Levels tab.

No such "solution center" in windows 7 for this J6480 machine.

Thanks anyway for your kind reply.

Re: Ink level showing low on refill of ink

[ Edited ]

Have you tried printing though the printer said the ink was low? Maybe the ink was not original or not compatible. Try to buy a new cartridge for your printer. Good luck.
