Ink system failure with error: 0xc18a0206 message for HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer

Please help I just bought a HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer and I keep getting a message that says: Ink system failure; Ink system has failed. unable to copy, receive faxes, or print. Refer to printer documentation. Error: 0xc18a0206 I have done everything suggested and have even replaced the ink, I am still unable to use the printer at all. How do I fix this issue?

I tried entering the menu and to clear the fault and I get an R0046???

Hi j0hnj0neill

 

I understand you are getting a ink system failure.

 

Are the cartridges Geniune HP?

 

Here is a url to clean the contacts on the cartridges.

Try removing all the cartridges and the usb cable.
When the error disappears, disconnect the power cable from the printer and the wall outlet. Wait 10 seconds and connect the power to the wall outlet and then the back of the printer. Then insert the cartridges after the printer is ready.

They are brand new ink cartridges and I have tried powering it down and removing the cartridges. I am using it as a network printer so no usb cable connected. My question is why am I getting a different code when I enter the menu code. it does not give me an option to clear the faults.

Hi j0hnj0neill

 

Do you mean you are trying to restore the printer defaults and you are getting the error?

 

Try to power cycle the printer and try it again.

Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer and
wall outlet, wait 10 seconds and connect the power cable to
the wall then the back of the printer.

I mean that I bought brand new cartridges and just unplugging and plugging it back in does not work!!!! Every other thrad that I read speaks of a secret menu that you can enter to clear the faults manually. When I enter that menu hitting *# then 123 brings me into a menu, however there is no option to clear the faults like other threads described.

This printer doesn't have specific buttons for resetting it.

I would power cycle the printer.
Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer and wall outlet, wait 10 seconds and connect the power cable to the wall then the back of the printer.

to see what other options are available for you.
