My 4500, 510g printer is working ok. Been in use for about 1 month. I only used it now and then. Perhaps 3 times a week and 3 or 4 or 5 pages. But, I don't know if I should leave it power on or keep turning it off and then on again when I need to use it.
I believe it wastes ink each time it is turned on as it does a cleaning. And the print head may fail prematurely.
Yes, it goes to the power-save mode.

Hi, it is fine to leave the printer on even when it is not in use. It will not negativity effect the printer. This will reduce the number number of calibrations it will perform. Which will save you time and ink when you do need to get printing as that is part of the startup process for certain models of printers. I myself personally own a Photosmart that I leave powered on.

That was a really great answer.
The key words were "calibration" and "ink".
this what I suspected and now confirmed.
My previous 5610v lasted 5.5 years but had cartidge problems.
and ink piled up in the receiver tray under the right hand side.
Thanks again, Paul
