My Officejet 6500 E709 All-In-One Will Not Print Black.

My HP Officejet 6500 E709n All-In-One will not print Black.   All other colors work fine.  Have tried the following-----Installed new Black cartridge, ran Clean Printheads utility, made sure vent was open on Black cartridge, turned printer off and restarted.  Test prints will still not print Black----other colors and images print, but no black text or black tones in pictures.  Any suggestions on how to fix or what needs to be repaired?  Thanks.

Hi jim: I just had the same issue a few mins ago. After going through all the troubleshooting steps, I realized that it was just simply a bad cartridge. The pin heads on the printer were not reading from the new cartridge, hence nothing in black print was able to be printed.  I installed another new black cartridge and I was able to resume my printing projects. I then contacted the HP store directly to report the faulty cartridge so that they could send me a new one, as I don't want to be out of pocket for a cartridge that I purchased directly from them.

Hi Liz----thanks for the suggestion to try a different Black cartridge.  It worked! !  I had tried replacing the cartridge before and still had the problem.  Must have had 2 bad cartridges---I'll return them for a refund.  Thanks again for the solution and fast reply----I'm back up and running.

Glad you were able to solve your problem. Remember to contact the HP store so that they'll send you two new cartridges.  NOTE:  You'll need to have the faulty ones on hand when you make the call, as they'll be asking for Product number, expiration date etc that you'll find on the actual cartridge.

My new cartridge is already on it's way in the mail.

     I have the same issue... just started on it's own without changing cartridges.  I tried a new cartridge: no help.  I also tried all of the other potential remedies (re-boot printer, re-boot computer, re-install printer) and nothing seems to help.  Any other ideas?

Im having the same problem with black ink. I changed the ink cartridge thinking maybe it was dry. Then I changed the print head, and still nothing. With the new cartridges its showing a new one needs to be replaced. So I have a new printhead and cartridge, you would think it would work. t also follwed the cleaning and aligning, still nothing. Anymore ideas guys?

remove the cartridges, left the lever on the right side and remove print head. Use Q Tips and alcohol, clean metal print surface (grate) until completely clean

I too am having the same problem; have done all the troubleshooting, used two new cartridges, printhead cleaning, aligning, still not working; next I'm going to try what you suggested, but noticed a lot of ink in the sponge area to the far right, looks like an oil spill, should I try to clean that up?

I have tried all the suggestions noted...new cartridge, print head, clean, align, and still have issue.  Seem like many have bought a new printer.  Prior to doing so, is there any other suggestions?
